So far, she would be my absolute top pick.

However.

I am worried not even so much about her politics (with which I agree), but that I don't think the US is progressive enough for vote for a woman as President.

That said, I grant that Obama won.

But we've seen a couple of moderate women run and lose.

The fascist propaganda machine is strong, but I think it's especially strong against women.

I think that's fucking stupid, but I think that's reality.

That said… damn I hope we don't end up with Newsom. And frankly, while I voted for Harris in the general… I hope we don't end up with her. We already know a lot of people don't like her and she did struggle to have appeal on a personal level.

I don't see any really great choices right now.

I wish we could have AOC. But I also know we'd be back to Obama levels of bullshittery from the fascists, although they will also do that for any Democrat - like Biden who was generally fine enough (if not nearly as progressive as we need).

Meh.

Voting for electability in the primaries is what gets us voting for the lesser of evils in the general.

    I strongly do-not-disagree.

As always, though, we have to think about the general because if someone runs that we love but we are pretty damn sure will lose (which is NOT what I'm saying about AOC, I am speaking 100% in generalities here), then in such a case running that person is letting the fascists almost certainly win.

That is a practical and pragmatic concern.

But to me, that means NOT that we need to run the shitty right-wing Dem option....... rather, we need to try and build support for the candidate we prefer by monetary donations and donations of time (knock on doors, text, etc) and do out best to figure out how much likely support is out there and run them when we have a real chance, and maybe don't run them if we don't have a real chance.

So not only do I not disagree with you, but I have strong feelings about a "Yes, but also:" as well :)

I want progressive representation. But secondarily, I also do want the best practical representation. It's all a risk, and when the risk is worth it, GO GO GO.
