Rickrolling is an audiovisual Bel Air. Someone ropes you in with a fascinating shaggy-dog story that finds a natural way to mention one little fight where their mom got scared, and then transition to the theme from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I recently found out there was a melodramatic reboot of that show. I don't think they used Will Smith's original theme song, even though that's a major factor in his career, with music royalties ultimately paying him more than the residuals for starring in the show. That's why he insisted on tie-in songs for all of his movies. People joke about that for Men In Black in 1997 and Wild Wild West in 1999, but a little-known fact is that when the Wachowskis approached him in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell and he plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.
