Although if you put paper in a 450F oven, it's definitely catching on fire (because swing temps).
My oven can get up to (and past) this temp. Unfortunately the door locks so I can't get a preview of Satan's home (it only does it for pyrolytic cleaning).
People hack ovens to let them use this mode to cook pizzas
My oven has a pizza mode 😆. Surely at 450 Celsius the pizza is just gonna come out black... I think pizza mode is more like 260 heated from underneath.
Well, if you put it in for 1s at 450, will it come out black? Course not, it takes a little time. So there's a time that'll cook the surface perfectly. Turns out that, since pizza is very thin, a couple of minutes at 450 is perfect.
I never considered that a short sharp cook would be better than longer at a lower heat. I already only cook the pizzas 3-5 mins.
Hmm, maybe I will need to learn how to hack my oven.
It's like cooking a steak :) you want to brown the surface but not dry out the inside
I feel like I have quite some learning to go on cooking the perfect pizza!
