I mean this as a genuine point of clarification: if someone is currently a danger to the community and uninterested in cooperating, do we not need to temporarily confine them for the purpose of rehabilitation? If we do, is that not a prison?
Obviously this is not an endorsement of torturing the person, i.e. inflicting any manner of suffering on them to punish them.
