... which itself dates back to 'amun'...

    No, it comes from the word for "right" (in the sense of both the hand and of being correct). That's the meaning in both Hebrew and Arabic. The Egyptian word "Amun" has a different etymology and means something that's concealed. He was The God With No Name, the Hidden One.
