Help me understand.
Do nothing Dems refuse to take the word “vacant” at face, dictionary value in order to keep democracy intact while fully believing that the person “occupying” the seat has most likely passed.
No one is talking about the "dictionary value" of the word. I have tried to be clear that this situation has occurred many times in the past and it has been decided that even being in a coma for 4 years does not make the seat vacant. This also doesn't mean nothing can be done. A Senator could start the expulsion process. This is a path that does not depend on the seat being vacant.
You understand the farce and you’re wringing your hands in intentional helplessness while we let them get away with it.
Okay so I can see it was not explicit in my last paragraph - I am not american. I have nothing to do here but to encourage americans to stop fighting their comrades and start organizing, the same I do in my own country.
I happened upon the post, saw how this was a path to eroding sick leave for other people, made a comment on that and though I could drop some relevant info to help people understand the other aspects of the situation. That's it.
Yeah, I’m offended. I’m also furious that I know this narrative will change right after the deadline passes. Only then the consensus will be “why didn’t Beshear do something?!?” while right now the consensus online is that he can’t or shouldn’t.
What can he do?
