They can't. They will rehire/backfill a fraction of it back a year from now at lower salaries.
Selling high, buying low. The tactic never changes. Sorry/not sorry on all the collateral damage done for their gains. Even if some of the injuries are to themselves.
Have you met Oracle? They seem to thrive on self-inflicted injuries
