Trash projects would make the platform worse. permalink fedilink source hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] ell1e@leminal.space 12 points 2 months ago (1 child) Yup. And looking at the fallout from the other comments, seems like it may have been a good idea to take a stand. (I don't like people becoming upset, but clearly some people embrace AI a little much, and if you look at Forgejo for example then you'd know Codeberg was always on some level anti AI due to the ethics and all that. And as far as I can tell, Codeberg always wanted to be a somewhat opinionated pro ethics code host. Now I understand some people don't like where the line has been drawn, but it's not suprising Codeberg wants to draw a line somewhere.) permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 months ago* this kinda feels like the hypothetical bartender kicking out the friendly nazi, all of a sudden there's a big fuss and they scream that the bartender is prejudiced. incredibly relieving to see it happen, having codeberg turn into an impossible to navigate pile of AI slop would be miserable. permalink fedilink source parent [–] CeeBee_Eh@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago They explicitly laid out exceptions for prototype and POC type projects. Also on the exceptions are projects built for tooling and dev process stuff. Additionally, the word "mostly" is doing a lot of work with ambiguity. permalink fedilink source parent
