I mean, you could say the same thing about Europe .. but the current state of things in Afghanistan is definitely a result of the last 50 odd years of global super powers meddling.

No, no, you don't understand. Afghanistan has been the place where external empires compete with each other for much longer than that. Nobody ever really succeeds there.
