That's about four times less loud or enough to turn yelling into a conversational volume. It's not perfection, but 20dB is nothing to sneeze at.

That's the maximum reduction at the peak frequency when fitted perfectly, their numbers, not independent testing

That's very likely true, but that's not the comment I was responding to. I only took issue with you saying that 20dB wasn't much. You didn't have any of that other information in your comment.
