I've put a YouTube link in the URL with a timestamp. The song in question has lyrics talking about "[inheriting a] troubled land" or something like that. It's clearly a sampling of some recording. When I first put this into a search engine, I got religious results. Now I don't get anything. Does anyone know what the lyrics mean?

I thought it an allusion to a bible verse, specifically a verse that foretells of the earth being left in the care of the meek after the aggressive are destroyed. Those who patiently follow gods plan will remain to inherit the world.

It is a happy thought. It's a mantra that (I'm betting) appears in just about all religious writings over many centuries, and then once again in 'Revenge Of The Nerds 2'. A pretty common place to end up in your thoughts after a tough go at life. I'd bet most of us here have at one time or another extended ourselves to do the right thing, at great loss, and was still left holding someone else's bag of garbage as your reward. It's likely a bit of a defense mechanism so that you don't go and jamb an ice pick into their nostril.

The actual audio kind of sounded a bit like 'The Funkyverse' to me, but it's not a genre I log a lot of miles in, and they likely sample their stuff too. All the samplers seem to sample off of each other, I dunno how to keep it straight.
