It's not as sweet as ketchup, it's a bit runnier with a stronger tomato (not sugar sweet) flavour. It's balanced 50/50 savoury sweet:

Tomato Sauce (51%) [Tomatoes (29%), Water, Sugar, Salt, Maize Thickener (1422), Food Acids (260, 330), Flavours], Navy Beans (49%). May Contain: Soy

When on toast, you can load up the toast for the ratio you like. It's honestly fine.

I'm not a fan of it on it's own, but if you add actual spices and herbs to it and some cheese then put it in the toaster oven/air fryer, then it's tolerable.

I've only ever eaten them on their own if there's a little left in the tin

I like making fun of the brits for anything, but you know what we don't make fun of enough? Canned spaghetti with that same sauce they put with baked beans. Now that is truly vile, and can't even be improved with what I mentioned.

Tinned spaghetti is for spaghetti jaffles only afaic. Something alchemical happens when it's in a toasted sandwich while camping and it becomes haute cuisine
