China having a coastline? Don't be silly. That's propaganda. Even if they did have one, who would they want to protect themselves from? It's not like they've ever been invaded by anyone. 
There are several obvious contexts where you could say "fuck both" and in a few cases you would accidentally have a point, but this is not one of them. If China has an obligation to do anything at all, it must include continuing to develop its military to deter or defend itself from west-aligned aggression. If you do not acknowledge that, then your faux-nuance is a complete farce because it would be setting itself up to be crushed and for literally an 8-figure death toll as a result even if it doesn't get turned long-term into a balkanized cluster of failed states and theo-fascist fiefdoms.
