Seriously? Taking the advice from my doctor, im supposed to trash after 4th shot. He says there will be a bit left, but because of contamination(???) he wants me to switch vials every 4th shot.

Like, is that the real reason? Because it physically hurts to throw this away, knowing how much i and others have worked to get this stuff in the first place, and how many sisters cant access it ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Also really seems like a waste of time and resources. Like people had to make this, and that required time effort and money. Are we cool with throwing away the results of so much progress and effort?

Idk, its hitting me now that i have to toss one, these are all questions i have that my doctor will probly hear next time i go in ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

PS. My nails look bad, its been a really rough month, dont talk about it ๐Ÿ˜‚

He gave me one before i ever asked this question, being about contamination and how ill be throwing away vials with some left.

My thing is, and the point of this post i guess, is i dont believe that. If it was a true risk of contamination i feel that cases would pop up everywhere or if it was such a problem they would have a better solution or not give just anybody the means to inject themselves. Idk, but its been helping getting advice from people with more experience with this stuff than i have.

    It could just be a statistics issue. The more you do something the more likely it becomes that you will have a negative outcome. Roll a d20 enough and eventually you will get two nat 1s in a row.

    Every time you pierce the septum with the needle, there's a small chance for contamination. There's a chance that some of the pathogens survived the alcohol wipe and will be pushed into the vial. The chance is likely incredibly small. Maybe piercing a multi use vial 4 times is the doctor's personal comfort level, though I couldn't find any information from a quick search that puts a limit on the number of uses beyond following the manufacturers guidelines and expiration date.
