keep in mind, the steam machine uses 16gb sysram and 8gb vram vs the steamdecks 16gb shared ram.
the machine is forced to buy 8gb more ram to offset that difference
The sane answer we need. So many comments are trying to explain it using the unit cost without accounting for differences in the systems configurations.
