Context: JJ McCullough is a kkkanada ian Ameriboo, who, on shitter, once known as twitter, hates Quebec and france-cool first, who may or may not think some superificial similtiaries of a country to another makes them practically have the same culture

Canada seems like it tried to imitate American wokeness (as it imitates American everything), but wokeness didn't really fit Canadian society as well (because it has no large permanent-underclass minority), so it mutated into something very toxic and bizarre.

Sick of this take. Canada and the US share a common culture. Canadians don't "import" US ideas anymore than say, lowa "imports" conservatism from New York or whatever. Canada has a right and a left just like every other place. Canadian leftists come to their beliefs sincerely.

This is, without exaggeration, the first time that I have seen anybody claim that Canada and Imperial America ‘don’t really share a culture’.

The food is almost identical (milk containers aside). Some of the holidays are the same (Halloween) or nearly so (Thanksgiving). The sports are about the same. The films, music, shows, and other media are practically interchangeable. The biggest difference is that the people would be caught off-guard by the healthcare systems:

I ended up tearing my bicep tendon- it hurt like hell, but I figured it was just a bad strain. About four days after it happened, a friend noticed that my bicep looked weird, so I called up my doctor. He had me in the next day. When I got there and he saw it, he asked me why I hadn't gone to the emergency room when it happened. I told him, "I'm from the US, where you only go to the ER if you're dying or there's a bone sticking out."
