Look, I realise you want to take the piss out of these people, but giving someone a present still in the box is actually what normal people do.

    Still in the box, sure. But it doesn't need to be left in the warehouse-sealed shipping container. It's 100% okay—even expected—for the gift giver to have opened the box to see that the item is as it should be.

    Have you ever bought something online before?

    There's typically a box inside the postage packaging, they don't just biff whatever you've bought into a bag.

    I'm not sure why you've assumed he just handed her the Amazon box.
