How does Iran react though? This seems like another escalation during negotiations and ceasefire. I hope they have a suitable retaliation in mind. I see senior officials have flown to Moscow im hoping this is preemptive to avoid their assassination whilst they plot a suitable response. Way I see it they have a free hit now. If they can't hit a us target there's a giant bullseye just south of Lebanon.

Shooting them down is a pretty reasonable retaliation for invading their airspace.

There is no cease fire and never was. usa never held up to its side of the agreement. usa fled and Iran chose to stop firing because they had done all they needed to to the bases in the area.

Fighting isn't in Iran's interests. They have won as much as they can militarily. All they want is usa to leave them alone. Their best weapon to get that is choking the gcc and usa by not letting them transit the strait.

I don't fully know what occured yesterday, but what I saw was multiple boats blown up and missile systems on the coast. Is that not your understanding? If all that happened was some drones invaded their air space and got downed then I'd be inclined to agree with you.

Allowing themselves to be consistently attacked during negotiations is also not in Irans interest. Appetite for war in the US has never been lower (ever), so the opportunity is there to retaliate.

Yes it's obvious to anyone with eyes Iran just wants to be left alone. And also the same for Lebanon. Thing is that doesn't appear to be happening does it.

Iran doesn't need to escalate because what they are doing is working. The american drone incursion did not achieve any strategic success. Why would Iran change tack?

usa sent those drones because the strait is still closed, gas prices are rising, and trump looks like a loser. This was not a show of strength by usa. This was a desperate attempt to change the situation because they are losing.

Maybe usa destroyed some boats, there aren't any reports of martyrs that I have seen but MQ-9 reapers cost well over $30 million each.

Even if Iran wanted to hit back what could they do? There are no more american targets in range.

Honestly feels a bit like talking to a wall here but let me restate the same points again if it helps.

Why would they change tack? As previously stated once again aggressed upon during ceasefire and negotiations.

These were all in my comments. It would be nice to engage with points, rather than restate the same things over and over again. Feels like a serious waste of both our time.

This has the exact same energy as when I was treated like an idiot for pointing out a non aggression pact with Saudi did very little for Iran. I was told how incredible it was and I was an idiot for thinking it provided very little because US needs a close geographical location to conduct strikes from. Never minding the other 10 countries in the area still completely on the table.

Whatever man, agree to disagree.

There is no diplomacy with Israel and the US. Their leaders only understand political and economic pain. Iran knows and understands this even if you don't.

You need to further your studies, comrade. When war happens, it happens as continuation of politics and diplomacy. It is a specific political form, in a sense. The unreliability of enemy states is an important strategical consideration, but it doesn't change the political nature of war.

There are over 400 dead civilians in Lebanon since the ceasefire I have seen most their faces. Tell them the current process is working. Tell them diplomacy worked for them. This isn't meant to be war. This is supposed to be the absence of war. That's what a ceasefire usually means. Not bombing civilians and pouring phosphorous on them. Not blowing up Iranian ships and missile systems.

Wait and see, I have a feeling we will be seeing Iranian retaliation pretty imminently. At least that's what I'm seeing from their leadership's messaging.

Either way the guy was wrong. A couple of downed drones is not the extent of what was enacted upon Iran yesterday. Their leadership have since released statements agreeing with what I said.

If that isn't exactly the gist of what I'm saying in the latest statement from Iranian leadership I don't know what it is. Hadn't even seen that till now. So I don't understand why you feel the urge to talk down to me.

I'm not talking down to you, comrade. Please, don't take it that way.

Violating a ceasefire is a tactic used by the US and Israel because they won't be condemned by the international community for it. Iran is time and time again arguing that only their side is respecting the ceasefire (possibly with political/diplomatic gains in the regional and international stages).

I do expect them to fully leave the ceasefire, but it's happening after making it clear to the international political actors that it was an asymmetrical ceasefire (we ceased, they fired, etc).

Either way, what I really want is for the US empire to fall, and also the whole Capitalist system, and with them all the senseless violence they perpetrate.

The other person was talking down to me too. I pointed out to them what had happened wasn't just a couple of downed drones, and that Iran would be looking at ways to retaliate for ceasefire violations. They denied this completely.This was a few hours before Iran put out a statement saying it wasn't just a couple of downed drones and that they were looking at ways to retaliate for ceasefire violations.

So from my side at least, it seems that I was correct.

I'm not telling you to study more History 😔 Either way, all of us need to study more. And in this case I was talking specifically about international relations and theories of war.

You can't just say stuff like, "There's no diplomacy!" Perhaps you were being hyperbolic, but of course there must be diplomacy.

What I'm meaning by that is that you don't negotiate with nations like the US and Israel in a typical fashion. If you show them they can strike you and pay no price they will continue to do so. As we have seen throughout history and as we are seeing now.

Either way call me delusional but I consider myself completely vindicated in my arguments considering Iranian leadership have made statements since mine that are almost verbatim my points. So I guess they need to study more also

May I also add that accusing me of being "too focused on damage" whilst today's Nazis rain bombs and phosphorous on civilians is borderline offensive and at the very least naive.

You can only play on the field you're given. Hezbollah are valiantly laying their lives on the line daily to defend their county from bloodthirsty demons. I get you'd like them to write a strongly worded letter, but I live in the real world. As I watch their beautiful people's faces appear on my screen daily. Old and young. Male and female. All have light in their eyes and hope. All expunged from existence for no reason other than Israel seem to enjoy inflicting pain.
