I honestly only ask people to hold a neutral position on it. Information from the west on it is clearly poisoned and information from within the dprk is not something that can be corroborated while nobody is allowed to visit and see it outside of the guided tours. Given that neither seems like a particularly neutral source of info it seems fair to simply accept that no clear information exists.
It's quite unlike something like Xinjiang, which I will fight people over, because you can gather third party information that isn't affiliated with either China's gov or western govs.
Within our lifetimes this will probably change though, the country will open up fully eventually.
As much as I meme I am the same way. When my partner was still quite liberal we had a lot of discussions about the DPRK and ultimately settled on it being nearly impossible to know much at all with significant certainty.
I believe that the broader messaging regarding their fight against imperialism is true but conditions on the ground for the korean people are only truly understood by the north korean people themselves who experience it.
