Right to Repair

Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde “oem” parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.

I just ran into a car issue that could only be fixed with a certain aftermarket scan tool. Other brand scan tools including the factory software would not work. So I don't feel bad about people pirating their janky software. Btw you can usually find automotive manufacturer software online for free and use a cheap cable to connect to your laptop. There's also third party software like FORScan and OBD Jacan that can accomplish a lot of tasks without the need to buy expensive tools or subscriptions to the factory software.
