I think if we're going to get any illumination as to why the Higashi have taken this route, it's going to have to come from the parents. Maybe they were both in the know, or figured something out. Maybe there's some true darkness at the Higashi core. I mean, there's eventually going to need to be something justifying Asa's massacre if we're ever meant to take her seriously as a sympathetic character, right?
