His misogyny, along with his racism, ableism, jingoism, etc.isms weren't that deep. His showman personality was enough to hide his skin-deep defects.

    I won't but words in anyone's mouth... I believe the person you replied to was simply stating that the flaws weren't that well hidden to anyone paying attention, not that he isn't a colossal shit stain...

    Oh, for sure. The evolution of languages is fascinating, even if the end result is frustrating. It does seem ironic, though, that a language that evolved to help the largest number of people be able to communicate results in such easy miscommunication on a personal level.
