Shit has gotten to the point where I actively researched if pets can get it (they can) and have adapted my behavior on walks with them accordingly.

I really have no fucking hope if this becomes a global thing. Fortunately, it seems like it wont? At least at this point.

    Hantaviruses have been an issue for pets for a long time. We've been through waves before where breeders were forced to euthanize most of their animals due to possible exposure. Every few years, there's an outbreak and people have to be extra careful.
