Not doing anything is the defining characteristic of centrists. You can't be criticized if you do nothing, have no opinions, never think critically, and just stick to the status quo to justify your inaction.
But most centrists aren't just that alone. They're often closeted xenophobes, or in some material way, benefit from the exploitation of others. So they pretend that they're just trying to be the voice of reason, but they know very well where their interests lie, and push comes to shove, they will always embrace fascism.
