It is correct in the context of raising money for Palestinians and someone interjecting with "you guys support Chinese authoritarianism though" because in that context, it really is salient and relevant to say that nothing Hexbear has done as a community materially[1] impacts China.

I appreciate your acknowledgement, but hard disagree at this. Because at that point you've now engaged in their propagation of harmful stereotypes and have ceded the point to them. "Oh, you say so and so beats his wife? Well I don't support him, but I still like him." Fine you're not contributing to impacting them materially, but you are now contributing to harming them. Debatable whether we need to be directly engaging with these assholes at all, but if you are it sure as hell shouldn't be to appease them.
