I mean, that's how we got here, so I guess doubling down will only take us to where we are, but with extra effort.

    The current government overthrew the US backed monarchy, so in a way it was caused by US intervention but indirectly.

    That's not my reference. I'm saying CIA backed the current authoritarian state of Iran when the left was gaining ground in Iran through democracy.

    The first example most people cite when the subject is "why don't you like CIA". Second is likely Pinochet in Chile. Same play book.
