There is more to this story than meets the eye.
Yes, they like to control bodies and probably like to fuck slightly older boys that sound like little boys.
But also the voices of children are often compared to angels. Whatever that is.
Also there was an arms race with Bach and I am sure other composer to go higher and faster and blaaah to be the best at music. So people needed to be able to sing high.
And I am sure you couldn't just use talented girls and women for that because ... They don't like when women have an important role.
I doubt he'll start culling the powerful. Pretty sure they wouldn't elect him otherwise.
