This has been featured around the Innernet recently, so why not here? Personally, my biggest skepticism is that I suspect it actually needs a mix of dark soy sauce and a much lighter sauce that floats on top?

I dunno though, maybe the 'trenches' are so deep that it works with simple soy sauce? Pretty dang clever, either way.

I got this one and a couple others like it in Tokyo.

Because tuxedo cats are the best!

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

I’m obligated to point out that torties are in fact better.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago

Absolutely. They're also the best. So are oranges, who are also the best.

Black cats also the best.

[-] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 6 points 3 weeks ago

So it really just works with nothing but soy sauce..?

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 58 points 3 weeks ago

Yes. I'm not sure why this is hard to understand. The deeper areas are darker because they hold more sauce.

Sorry. Didn't realize I had to be a major genius. /s

[-] pivot_root@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Deeper areas are darker? Oh yeah, then explain why a flat swimming pool has dark patterns on the bottom! Checkmate, translucency believers. /s

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

A flat swimming pool wouldn't hold any water, you're thinking of a parking lot

[-] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 15 points 3 weeks ago

Instructions unclear, parking lot is now full of soy sauce

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago

How can you tell? Did a shrine or cat appear?

[-] SourGumGum@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago
[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

Redundant. All shrines are for cats.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It would work with piss too

[-] Pupschism@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

Soy sauce would work like an ink. Here's a picture of watercolour inks, each column is one ink, with each row representing how much ink is soaked in.

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

Can you recommend which is tastiest?

[-] Pupschism@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Unburnt kikkoman

[-] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeap, as someone who's done his share of watercolor art, I do grasp the concept. Any doubts I had were related to a level of skepticism about the depths of the trenches.

Oh I so want these!
