That truck holds way more than 330 gallons. I only drove B-train tankers. They haul more than the one shown, and I’d haul 13,000 gallons of fuel in two smaller tanks.

I can’t remember how much a single 53’ tank holds, but half a B-train would be 6500 gallons, which is smaller than the trailer shown.

A more accurate representation would be one of those 4’x4’x4’-ish totes with the metal cage. In fact, that’s probably how it was shipped and this is literally one shipment.

The Snopes thing says it was 6 x 55 gal. barrels.

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 33 points 2 months ago

Ah, well there you are! That sounds about right. Picture a pallet with 4 drums on it. Then half that again.

The picture here is super misleading. Also, how you gonna drive a tanker across the ocean?

[-] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 21 points 2 months ago

Ice beam making a bridge in front of the tanker.

Teleporting is a thing!!!

Does that mean that Professor X might be in the redacted sections for renting out poor little Bobby? This new information doesn't look good for a boarding school for unwanted children with a private jet for unregistered international travel.

Why is everyone so terminally literal on the internet? That's not the actual picture of the shipment. That's just a truck. For a meme.

Saying it again. The truck is just for effect. For. A. Meme.

Because it makes it seem like he had a truckload of acid so people go “oh yeah he was definitely dissolving bodies in it,” when that’s probably not the case.

It’s subtle misinformation, and misinformation should always be corrected.

[-] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

He probably wasn't dissolving bodies. The reality is that a lot of those girls came from consenting families. Either from poor families who were paid or from families who were already part of the system. Kids of supermodels who were also exploited when they were kids. It's a cycle.

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, whatever was going on is sick as fuck, I just don’t think dissolving bodies was part of it.

I dunno, guess I just like to be accurate with my outrage 🤷‍♂️

[-] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

What is supposed to be funny here? He probably dumped some of them into the acid, ALIVE for fun.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 months ago

Meme doesn't mean funny. It's just a re-sharable thing. I've seen countless dark or unfunny memes.

Those IBC totes are 250 gallons usually, and I'm not sure if they can handle sulferic acid.

[-] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Those are made from HDPE and can handle sulfuric acid. I'm not sure they would sell sulfuric acid in plastic tanks that are that large though.

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Different kind of plastics for different acids. Remember season 1 of Breaking Bad?

[-] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

One or those little cube containers we see in scifi movies are 500 gallons and those are like 4x4x4 maybe?

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I was thinking one of these. They’re 1000L I believe. Not entirely sure, I quit being a truck driver years ago and my knowledge is fading.

Another commenter said it was shipped in 6 drums though, which hold 205L

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I used them in my grow shop for nutrient water. I believe they hold 450-500 gallons which is about right if it's 1000 liters. I guess it would be like 430 gallons or so?
