I assumed they were just being poetic about the amygdala, and I liked it

    No this is a literal belief that a lot of people hold. The flip side of the truism is that “liberals” have “shriveled” amygdala’s and are therefore inferior. It’s true on average that conservatives have more active amygdalas, but there are a lot of statistics that are accurate on average and it doesn’t justify using them to judge people.

    For all we know, being a conservative causes your brain to get dopamine hits from fear and outrage. So the "amygdala makes you conservative" doesn't hold water (which you pointed out with statistics being a fuck).
