I caught a particularly bad strain once when I worked on an Infectious Diseases ward. Way before COVID19, we had a suspect TB case that turned out just to be HMPV in a traveler. The senior registrar was like "it's fine we can stop all mask precautions it's just human meta pneumo virus!", a week later there was barely any doctors, nurses or allied health left to turn up. I've only ever been that sick when I've had covid19 or influenza.
