Yes exactly, you can walk up to anyone in a Star Trek shirt and by simply saying the phrase "favorite captain?" you'll probably have a new friend two hours later.
Oh man, there were a pair of middle-aged guys at the table behind me at a restaurant recently, and I SO BADLY wanted to join their conversation! Favorite Romulan ship class, U.S.S. Pegasus: treaty violation or necessary development?, Best DS9 episodes... they were my kind of people.
I have absolutely randomly jumped into a conversation like that before 🤣
I would have at least tried, but I was with my family and didn't want to abandon them.
