WTF are all US schools like that? With all that security it looks like it was filmed in an airport

Because we have school shootings all the damn time. It still won't stop them from happening but it's not like we're gonna go after the source of the problem and ban guns anytime soon. Security theater is the best thing administrations can do and the kids are those who end up suffering the most out of it.

Cops at schools often escalate problems and use excessive force on children.

They're part of the youth control complex. They exist to criminalize children, creating a new generation of victim they can use to justify their continued existence. Fuck the police.

And we can't go after the guns because patriots are going to use them in case the government ever starts doing tyrannical things like grabbing people off the streets without due process, killing protesters, breaking into houses without warrants, or threatening the voting system.

If any of that happens sometime in the future the good ol' boys will be ready to protect the Constitution and we'll understand that all the dead kids were worth it.

So they're saying we should go after guns because patriots aren't doing that, which is why I called them a troll, because they're wrong. Patriots are doing that.

they were saying that the "patriots" (so maga, not actual patriots) are claiming that they would step in and stop tyranny, but are actually doing the opposite.

and them claiming that that's the reason they need their guns is the most prominent reason that constantly comes up in discussions about gun control. which is true.

so they are saying that particular argument is utter bullshit, and that gun reform should disregard that argument.

and gun reform/gun control doesn't mean nobody can have guns.

it just means stricter rules on who can have them. which, yes, is a necessary legislation that every civilized country already has.

And I'm saying that's all bullshit, because actual patriots (not maga) ARE stepping up and using the second amendment for what it was made for. Anyone talking gun control right now is a fucking fascist masquerading as a liberal because they're scared that people are arming themselves to protect their neighborhoods.

so you just think dead children are an acceptable price to pay for... absolutely nothing. got it.

We don't need dead kids to keep the 2nd amendment strong. Thats a misconception. Gun control is a bandaid, not a real solution to the root problem of violence in this country. And if you think absolutely nothing is happening, you're either lying or not paying attention. Nice try faschy.

School Resource Officers became common before Columbine, starting in black schools in the 1980s. (It’s America, did you think this history wouldn’t be racist as hell?)

Cory Doctorow has pointed out that if you want to see what is planned for white middle income people, look at how prisoners are treated; the same thing can be said about schools in poor neighborhoods. Now having cops handle disciplinary issues at schools is just the standard.

Granted it's been a bit since I've been in highschool but mine didn't remotely have that level of security. We had a rent-a-cop show up maybe twice a week who did breathalyzer tests as people came into the school. There were two entrances though so people just went to whichever one they weren't at. They also tried having a drug dog come in every so often but we revolted and all the students started putting open bags of poppy seeds and dog treats in our lockers so that didn't last long lol

Largely because the only version of government spending Americans are okay with is for cops. Police spending takes up 30-45% of most municipal budgets in the "land of the free".

It was right at the main door, and they had a active student protest in that entrance space that was being policed for everyone's security. So the reg security and a couple cops and staff were literally right there to get involved.

FYI, the protest was being allowed by the school.

What I read was that the cops were there because there was supposed to be some sort of anti-ICE protest, and this moron shows up to support ICE because apparently he's the Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller troublemaker of his school. Ever see old videos of PeeWee Himmler in high school? Same character.

Not all schools but armed cops in schools as part of their "security" is and was a thing, at least as far back as the early 90s while I was in highschool in CA.

My schools were not but I'm a 30-something year old man. I want to tell you no but there was a shooting at my nephew's school. Granted his school is in quite close to Columbine so that may have been a factor.
