I mean....they didn't call "leftist" unhinged, they specified a specific group.

Hexbear does not equate to all leftist, and leftism does not equate to Hexbear.

The overwhelming majority of the time people have issues with Hexbear, it's the leftism.

This is essentially gaslighting. Almost every time I saw a reply that was so out of line toxic was from hexbear. Ex: "disgusting capitalist bootlicker. Kys." under a post saying we should vote for Biden. I can go find these actual words on the post that was titled "get out and vote!" with an image that said "not voting is a vote for trump" if you want.

Voting for a genocidal imperialist warmonger isn't leftist, so it makes sense that leftists oppose that. I'm not gaslighting, you're kinda proving my point, it's the leftism that's the issue.

This is the only thing I am responding to. Almost every comment on the defederation from hexbear thread said it was because of toxicity, not ideology. If a vegan says to someone "kys carnist, crawl into a hole and die," and gets banned, they didn't get banned for being vegan.

For anyone who actually cares to look at all the people discussing their negative experiences with hexbear users.

Bonus meme: my identical comment made by someone else on the instance: https://sh.itjust.works/comment/2928583

Considering the sh.itjust.works user that made that thread in the first place is an incredibly toxic person that runs an anti-communist drama community, is a Zionist, etc, something tells me that the people claiming it's toxic are ones that had strong political disagreements to begin with.

That may be true in some part, though I think people on Hexbear tend to conflate any criticism of their personal takes on leftism as an attack on leftism as a whole. However, in this case he did specify the "vocal" aspect of Hexbear. So I think you're just being a little oversensitive.

I can't say I agree with there being anything particularly out of the norm with Hexbear beyond their leftism, so when people describe them as "almost completely unhinged" in particular, that sets off red flags.

Eh.... Imo they tend to be very small tent about their leftism. Anything that runs against the popular grain can get you blocked or get you told you're a dirty lib.

That's true of all groups, though, hsving a relatively cohesive range of acceptable opinions. What sets Hex apart is the leftism.

To different degrees.... Hexbear is particularly bad.

What sets Hex apart is the leftism.

Lol, I'm a socialist.... I have a problem with Hexbear. They would much rather dunk on people than engage in dialogue and welcome people into the community.

Hexbear has obviously had issues with this to the point where the mod team has had to remove forums and put out warning to their own community to stop sexism and transphobia.

You're just conflating any criticism of the community as criticism of leftism, even when it's coming from people on the left. You know, the thing that stated this whole conversation.

Hexbear takes transphobia and sexism far more seriously than most other instances, you're acting like sexism and transphobia is a prominent issue on Hexbear. Hexbear can be quick to dogpile, but that's true here on this very thread as well from Lemmy.worlders (or at least attempts). I'm indeed identifying the core issue percieved with Hexbear as the leftism itself, the strict adherance to Marxism and anarchism.

I disagree...... When the mods handed out temporary bans for people people being sexist there were people calling them counterrevolutionary.

you're acting like sexism and transphobia is a prominent issue on Hexbear. Hexbear

It's a prominent issue on most all of lemmy

Hexbear can be quick to dogpile, but that's true here on this very thread as well from Lemmy.worlders

Yeah..... Lemmy.world is trash. Not exactly a place I would like to compare a place I like too.

core issue percieved with Hexbear as the leftism itself

And I would say that can be true even in most cases, but we aren't talking about most cases. The accusation is that you are deflecting valid criticism by conflating all criticism against Hexbear as a general criticism against leftism. You know....the thing you continue to do.

strict adherance to Marxism and anarchism.

Lol, anarchist get dogpiled on Hexbear constantly.

If you can't engage in honest discourse then I don't think this is going anywhere. Which is another problem with people on Hexbear and sometimes .ML, people are so set on "winning" an argument they utilize logical fallacies by rote.

    Have a good one.

This is unfounded, show reciepts. Hexbear is extremely supportive of trans rights and takes sexism and transphobia very seriously. Further, anarchists don't get dogpiled, those who break the sectarianism rule do. I'm being honest, you just haven't backed up your claims.

    Receipt

There have also been permanently deleted struggle sessions over the years that are basically the same.

those who break the sectarianism rule

And who decides when this has happened and over what?

Link seems to be broken. Either way, sectarianism is determined by the community, mods, and admins, like all other servers determine rules.
