It's ironic that you complain about illiteracy with that comment.
But also, it's a built in feature of capitalism. It will only ever allow the plebian to learn enough to provide useful skills, with a handful of exceptional rising above while still being shackled by capital (see how e.g. Nikola Tesla tried to break out of the cycle without success). People will be kept illiterate and just conscious enough to do the work, be provided with just enough to do said work.
