Didn't we used to have to sign the receipt that the store keeps, and they give us a copy to keep for our records?Or an e-signature on an electronic device. Is this still a thing? Or do I just not get out much lately?

Maybe it's just a restaurant thing. I literally haven't been to a restaurant since 2023.

I've literally never signed any of it. They don't check your signature and only ever used it for disputes.

At this point if I contest a charge that has my name and not a dick or smiley face then I know it's fraud.

    Yeah, the signature is there really for the card holder to be able to dispute it.

    I drove a taxi when people used to sign credit and debit cards. Never paid any attention as people just didn't even seem like they're trying to properly sign it, they just scratched something on it on random.

    But if you do that all the time, it's gonna be harder disputing things when someone actually steals it.

    So you know. Mostly on the user.
