I have a poke 3. In 2022 there were like 3 updates spaced out over the year. In December 2023 there was another one. Then nothing more since. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] jqubed@lemmy.world 1 point 10 months ago (1 child) Thanks, that’s my concern with a lot of these interesting devices from small companies permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] trolololol@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 child) Just curious, would Kobo and others keep updates going for longer? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] jqubed@lemmy.world 1 point 10 months ago I’m not sure but I’m trying to look (not very actively right now, though). Amazon seems to keep updates going for 6 years or so but I’d prefer to not be in such a closed ecosystem. There’s certainly an attraction to an Android-based system. Google has been pushing for suppliers to provide longer Android support but it doesn’t seem like many smaller suppliers have been doing that still. Of course, if you disable internet access and only load files over USB then it’s less of a concern, but then you lose out on some of the Android benefits. permalink fedilink source parent
