What's with the bear theming, anyway? Soviet Bear joke because we're all a bunch of tankies, or more esoteric than that? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it, but I do wonder why?

It was one of the many memes from r/cth at the time, like the volcel police or PPB.

When chapo.chat was created eventually a vote was made on a rename and Hexbear was chosen.

I don’t even remember it being as prolific as volcel police or PPB, it just happened to be peaking exactly when the sub was banned and so it stuck like a snapshot in time
