Just don't try to make eye contact with it or talk to it about your relationships 
Seriously, they did a fantastic job adapting it at least as far as the first four episodes go. They nailed it.
I just read the first 4 novellas and I really like this adaption. The researchers are more like "millennial" stupid (or whatever I can't keep up with the gen tropes lol) but it fits well with the zany shows he watches. It represents a cyber dystopia quite well. Thanks for sharing or I wouldn't have found this gem!
