Quit discord last year. Moved my core friend group onto Signal. Video streaming sucks but it addresses most of my other concerns.

Potential alternatives and their issues:

• Guilded: owned by Roblox, faces same data/privacy concerns

• Discourse: backed by venture capital, same as above

• Revolt: slow development, no game streaming, otherwise decent

• Matrix: high technical barrier of entry, but promising.

• For game streaming, try Parsec (with their echo cancellation trick)

• For movie/video streaming, try Hyperbeam.
