[–] yote_zip@pawb.social 15 points 3 years ago (2 children) lemm.ee will only let you upload images up to 100kB: https://lemm.ee/post/25065 Try uploading to an external image host first like catbox.moe or imgbox.com, then linking that here permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Ilovethebomb@lemmy.world 21 points 3 years ago* (2 children) 100 kilobytes? What is this, the nineties? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] yote_zip@pawb.social 18 points 3 years ago (1 child) They have an explanation in the link - they effectively don't want you hosting images on lemm.ee, as it has the potential to scale out of control for server costs. Whether that's reasonable or not idk, but I can see where they're coming from. Even though my server doesn't have an upload limit, I personally just post all my images to catbox.moe in the meantime until we get some more data on how Lemmy scales. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] turtlepower@lemm.ee [S] 3 points 3 years ago (3 children) So, uh, how does everyone in here get a nice big image to see, but mine is just a link? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] yote_zip@pawb.social 13 points 3 years ago (1 child) Click 'edit' on your original post, then put your image's URL into the "URL" space and save. There's actually no difference between using an external image host and uploading to lemm.ee in terms of end result - all image posts on Lemmy are technically just URLs that are filled out. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] lagomorphlecture@lemm.ee 2 points 3 years ago For whatever reason that only seems to work properly for me when I post using the connect app. Just saying! permalink fedilink source parent [–] yote_zip@pawb.social 4 points 3 years ago (2 children) Sorry I just saw how you posted it - you posted the link to the image's webpage but not the direct link to the image itself. You'll need to right click the image and e.g. "Open image in new tab" or "Copy image location" or something so that you end up with a link that actually ends with your image file, like this: https://images2.imgbox.com/4f/6c/yf5t7SiE_o.jpeg catbox.moe doesn't do the image page thing and will just give you a direct URL, if you find that easier. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] turtlepower@lemm.ee [S] 5 points 3 years ago (1 child) Oh snap!
