Sure, you cut out the trolls, but you also totally fuck up the user experience for the vast majority of well intentioned people. Example, I’m on Lemmy.world, and my wife is on beehaw. I'm on a different instance altogether, but I wouldn't be surprised if our server owner is keeping an eye on that situation as well. I know we've already defederated from a few such as lemmygrad, and one of our rules is "No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or casteism," which is one of the reason I joined this instance in the first place. There are plenty of instances you can join that allow Republicanism, Stalinism, Maoism, or whichever other extremist communities you want to see. Personally, I'm not looking for another reddit.
