Mutually Assured Destruction works for preventing the use of nukes, surely it can work for cars being more careful of pedestrians and bicyclists.

    What I find interesting about this comment is that despite living in a fairly dense area, I don't hear these complaints from pedestrians. Not that there aren't deaths, to be clear, it's just that with pedestrians I hear "slower speeds", "traffic calming", "better visibility".

    From bicyclists I hear "fuck, you want me to put a light on my bike? why don't you put a light on your car motherfucker?" (Actual lemmy thread from 1-2 months ago, paraphrased to represent the actual vitriol involved).
