    They tag some of their military assets with 'Z' for battlefield identification

    Because the Russians liked the movie world war z or what? Also I'm still confused why people on Lemmy would adopt that spelling regardless

    Z was being used in ruZZia as a symbol to show support for the invasion. IIRC Z was used by a certain command in that area on tanks and trucks.

    People started spelling "Russia" as "ruZZia" to relate it to the Nazi SS and using Z to do so to show distane for the war. I write it with lower case r out of disrespect 🤷
