AOC has a Trump-like cult of personality around her. There are people who think everything she says and does is pure genius, even when it completely betrays all supposed leftist principles.

I think it’s more than that. She positioned herself early on as an Everyman type of person who’s just like your typical millennial/zoomer with playing on stream a part of it.
People who are new to politics see AOC as the strongest left-wing voice. Her being a woc probably also helps.
