Last year I discovered MinnMax though and some of my faith has been restored. They are a community funded group of journalists and enthusiasts who run a weekly ~3 hour podcast about games and the industry. They are mature, lucid, insightful, and also pretty funny. They've also been doing a yearly best-of list for a long time which is a good jumping off point if you want to dip your toe in.
