[–] Ad4mWayn3@lemmy.world 30 points 3 years ago (2 children) Many people don't know who spez (or Steve Huffman for that matter) is, a more general text should work: Fuck Reddit. I'm actually surprised the fuck spez messages have lasted long since admins probably have access to brushes to clear it up like it was paint. permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] MelonTheMan@lemmy.world 53 points 3 years ago (2 children) Its by design. CEOs are replaceable, the corporation is not. Once all the shit changes are done they'll get rid of Huffman (who will get a fat golden parachute for his hard work) and new CEO will walk back maybe 2 of his changes. Suddenly reddit is loveable again and to say otherwise is asking for too much. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] soulifix@lemmy.world 12 points 3 years ago And for estranged reason, the previous CEO will be missed. This happened to Gaia Online, where they lost their main admin for a good few years. Was remembered for basically just stumbling upon luck which got Gaia Online into it's hottest peak within 2007 through 2010. New CEO comes in, practically decimates the site and it's community with greedy practices. Old admin comes back, is practically worshiped, but really didn't bring the same magic as before. Because again, he just struck luck and we realized that he didn't really have a lot of good answers to bring the site back to shape. permalink fedilink source parent [–] badsector@lemmy.world 4 points 3 years ago (2 children) AFAIK Spez is kinda special in that he is one of the creators of Reddit, being there since the very beginning (i think he made the first or second message), so i think unless the rest of the company kicks him out he isn't going anywhere. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] scottywh@lemmy.world 2 points 3 years ago He has been replaced as CEO before. permalink fedilink source parent [–] JshKlsn@lemmy.ml 1 point 3 years ago* (last edited 1 day ago) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent [–] Willer@lemmy.world 1 point 3 years ago I guess the reddit name helps it keep it up for longer.
