Finally got the Box Turtle AFC mostly dialed in, yay multicolor!

Our multimedia dept lends out this card game, and I guess the thin cardboard box fell apart? So they asked for a sturdier one. Made from 100% ASTM6691-certified biodegradable PHA of course.

Oblique angle of a rugged-looking hinged yellow box, approximately the size and shape required to hold a deck of cards. It has two hinges, one pink and one black. On the front in landscape, in black text, it says "Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza". To the right of that are three vertical lines, the first two black and the third pink. The middle line is slightly longer.

Started making my own unusual tofu

I got really inspired by Mary's Test Kitchen on YT. This one is green split pea, it was delicious but I didn't do a good enough job decanting off the milk from the starch. Ultimately what I'd like to do is try this with some of our very obscure native edibles, like thicket bean, bundleseed, etc.

If this successfully crossposts to Lemmy, you may only see one pic and have to click through to see the rest!

A pot of light green creamy liquid (pea milk) on the stove. There is a big wooden spoon and a candy thermometer sticking out of it. It appears to be about 100° F.

(NE USA) How I feel every time I'm picking all the invasive Red Dead Nettle that's choking out the sedges and such, lol...

I get there's supposed to be a line between naturalized and invasive, but from where I'm standing Lamium purpureum definitely crosses that threshold. Also it doesn't even taste good! And it spreads powdery mildew to my Monarda.

Finally, after YEARS of trial and error failures, today I've made Thicket Beans palatable and not poisonous! I went whole hog, 24 hour soak with 2 changes of salty, alkaline water. Boiling in another change. Pressure cooking after. And then boiling AGAIN. Lastly stewing with some sauce as a faux baked beans. It's pretty good! The process could certainly be optimized but now I know it IS at least doable.

So, I planted some American Spikenard years ago despite very little (and conflicting) information online about it's edibility. You can read that it is edible, it's not, it is but tastes horrible, and/or it's tasty. Well finally, I am here to confirm that it is in fact DELICIOUS and tastes like root beer!!! 😍 Unsurprising for this genus I guess, but there you have it.
