NASA is launching a new 'Plus' streaming service (www.theverge.com)

You’ll be able to watch live coverage of future launches, documentaries, and brand-new original series the agency is producing exclusively for NASA Plus. The agency is looking to “better tell the stories of how NASA explores the unknown” and connect with more people by transforming its digital presence

And best of all, NASA says it will be “ad-free, no cost, and family-friendly

The name "plus" immediately made me think of subscriptions.

I would rather they name it NASA Explore, NASA More, NASA Now...

    The name was certainly poorly chosen. My first reaction was exactly the same, with additional disappointment at this being NASA, who I always considered benign in making their science, missions etc. available.

    It's the Federal government... by law, everything they make is required to be Public Domain.

    If they tried to charge for this, I'd be more than "disappointed." I'd be pissed and calling my Congressman to complain!

    That makes me wonder.. Does NASA make any money from licensing for all the tshirts and memorabilia you see everywhere?.. Or can any company decide to make NASA swag without licensing?

    Just last week, I visited Kennedy Space Center and bought my kids souvenir t-shirts from one of the gift shops there. They were quite a bit less expensive than I expect from souvenir shirts, so they’re at least profiting less.

    That being said: the place is AMAZING! The technology, the people, the inspiration! There is so much to see and experience! —- we spent two full days, could have spent a third, and that is without a launch

    Another streaming service. Just what we all wanted!

    It's exhausting juggling and timing all of these services just so you don't get ripped off and you can watch what you want.
