The best way to eliminate the trade deficit is to start manufacturing and selling something useful in big scale.

Like I don't know, massive amounts of solar panels and wind turbines? To reduce our dependence on foreign oil and energy?

No, I must be crazy, that could never work because...? Because? Because they wont let it happen.

And how do you propose that happens?

Usually, instead of tariffs currency fluctuations form natural tariffs. However the Chinese artificially lower the Yuan.

I think an alternative could actually be tariffs. Just not the way Trump implemented them. Do them slow and steady. Announce you will up them 1% each month for certain goods. Promise you will keep them for the long term, so get broad political backing for them.

Just doing them on a whim is not something that gives people or companies confidence to invest into expensive factories, training and resources.

Low interest industrial financing, environmental recovery relief, and tax breaks and subsidies.

Industry will go wherever it is profitable to go. Make it profitable to make things here and they will. Tax them with tariffs and the industry will just go away entirely.

This is actually not enough for most industries. Building up a plant, knowledge and company takes several years. Without guarantees that the subsidies will be around that long it's very risky to start a new manufactory.

On top of that, production costs are much higher than the domestic (or international) markets will bear, and although access to capital is good meaning you could possibly automate away expensive labor, the cost prognosis of energy and materials is worse than many other places. Not to mention that subsidising a factory that doesn't provide employment or net tax revenue seems a dubious use of government funds.

That way only makes sense if you want to strategically establish an industry long term, to build up to unique capabilities. Such as the green energy deal which could have made the US both energy self sufficient and an international leader in the emerging renewable energy market, or Silicon Valley for the then emerging IT market.

Doing it for steel (a mature market) would almost certainly require regulatory pressures to guarantee demand, such as military contractors having to purchase domestic steel, while developing competitive capabilities (it's unlikely the US will be able to compete on cost of labor, materials or automation, so should leverage that low cost of capital on R&D)

You probably shouldn't have voted for him then, huh? You always pretend otherwise, it's a common game that reactionaries play when they shit the bed, but you absolutely did. Now you get to live in the reality that you helped create. How's it taste?

There is no point in defending Kamala. I can tell by the stupid stuff she says she never ran a business in her entire life. Kamala is not fit for command. Felon Trump is better than Kamala. He is a businessman. Kamala has no business in the business of business. Vote Trump if you knew what is best for you. All democrats have is Trump is a felon. The disaster that Joe Biden is, and Kamala’s unoriginal ideas of meddling in people’s lives with unnecessary federal laws, which the states can, do, and already did with left wing policies, Kamala is unnecessary. I don’t think she ever worked at McDonald’s either, like she claimed she did. Then she steals some of Trump’s ideas. America does not need Kamala. Vote Trump, because we have no choice. Taxation reduces economic output. There is monumental evidence that tax cuts work and are often employed to stir up investment. Even blue states, and blue cities, use tax cuts. Democrat economy theory of taxation increasing economic prosperity is voodoo economics. Look at Joe Biden economic policies in trying to engineer the economy with tax credits for his futile micromanaged boondoggles. Even Joe Biden uses tax breaks. You are pissing against hurricane force winds and getting your face wet with your Democrat economic theories that are meant to confuse the low level electorate into voting for them, including the hope they get their union perks, 50 dollar minimum wage, and abortions, whatever they can get. What we need to do is stack the court with libertarians and right-wingers, and make sure democrats don’t interfere with state laws and the culture of those states ever again. Save America, vote Trump. There is nobody else.
